If you are going to Dumaguete, make sure that you stop by Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries on San Jose St. Dumaguete City. Try their silvanas (in the blue and white floral box) which are soft and chewy and the best silvanas I have ever tasted.
While in Dumaguete, we stopped by the original store to get some pasalubongs. Given the sheer number of people there, the staff who attended to us were not that customer-friendly. We had a more pleasant experience at their Robinsons mall branch where the staff were more attentive and friendlier. At the original store, they also had conflicting answers as to the shelf life of their products.
Anyway, for the silvanas, they said that they would last four hours out of the ref and 1 week in the freezer. I didn’t mind the four hours and still brought home some to Manila. They survived and still tasted yummy. My daughter also liked their mango bars and their chocolate crinkles.
At their branch at the Robinsons Mall, we had a quick lunch before going to the airport on our way home. The food was okay but the servings were quite small. We had bacon wrapped roast pork, regular cheeseburger, grilled ham and cheese sandwich, and spaghetti. I only remember that the spaghetti was sweetish.
When in Dumaguete, drop by Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries for the silvanas. I’m sure you’ll be happy and your relatives and friends will be happy too.
