There’s a new resort in Bohol, located at Alona Beach, on Panglao Island, Philippines. The resort is Amorita Resort.
Based on newspaper articles, they are offering the following promotional packages this May 2007 (Note: It is best to contact them directly to inquire when the promo is applicable before booking):
Deluxe Rooms: P3,500 for a 3-day 2-night stay, with breakfast for 2
Pool Villas: P7,000 for a 3-day 2-night stay, with breakfast for 2
The above rates are introductory rates, I guess, to encourage people to try the resort out. Each oceanview and gardenview villa has its own private pool and jacuzzi.
Published rates range from USD 160 to USD 350 a night, depending on the type of accommodation chosen. The rate includes breakfast for 2, transfers, and children 12 years and below can stay in the room with their parents for free.
Amorita Resort offers tour packages around Bohol, has an infinity swimming pool, and according to its website, has a wellness spa under construction.
You can visit their website at www.amoritaresort.com
Considering that the resort has opened, it would have been better if they could put in actual photos of the rooms and facilities instead of architectural rendering photos only.
Still, given the relatively steep regular rates, it is a good idea to try out the resort given its reasonable (or is it relatively low?) promo packages while it is still new.

hmmm, i inquired through the phone number stated in their website. sounds a bit fishy to me. Because first there is no actual photos of the resort itself, second you have to pay the full payment at their office in makati (does other resorts require you to pay at their manila office or do you pay upfront at the resort itself?). then their opening is at May 15 which is already half past the middle of summer. what if the resort doesn’t exist?? as of right now i can’t access their website…. hmmm, just thinking out loud.
From Angel: Yes, I also did find it strange that the photos shown in their website were still drawings by their architect. As for full payment, some resorts do require that. Others require a down payment of at least one night while a few will not charge you anything. If you are wary, maybe you can wait a bit before booking. They may be offering good rates for now because they are just about to open but of course, since they are just new, there are bound to be some kinks. If you do get to try them out, please let us know about your experience.

The rates in your article are no longer valid. They have new soft-opening rates (refer to their website). We stayed at Amorita on 04May, in their deluxe room. The room is very spacious, and would have a good view of the garden (that is, when the time comes that the garden landscape is completed). During our stay, the infinity pool and the rest of the facilities were still under construction.
The oceanview villa has a breathtaking view of the ocean. The resort is located on a cliff, so if you want to go the beach, you have to walk to the side of the resort and go down the stairs (about 15 steps if i recall correctly). It’s not a long walk, but personally I prefer the beach to be a few steps from the resort doorstep.
We couldn’t really appreciate the resort that much because the amenities were not there yet, and they have a lot of room to improve in terms of the toiletries they provided. But I think once everything is completed, it would turn out to be a nice place to stay.
They do accept reservations by phone. As for the payment, we settled our bill upon check-out. They didn’t require downpayment or guarantee.
From Angel: thank you very much for your comment. Am sure it will be helpful to readers who are considering to visit this resort. As to the validity of the rates, that is why there is a link to the website of the resort itself, as I know that rates change a lot and given the link, readers can check out the updated information on the resort’s website itself.

Regarding actual photos of rooms and facilities, I don’t think its wise for them to do that at the moment beacause the resort is still undergoing construction. We stayed there last May, 2007 and although the resort shows a lot of promise, there are still a lot of eye sores. Landscaping is not done yet and they have put-up a lot of “sawali” screens to hide these defects.
From Angel: Hi Leana. Thank you for sharing with lipadna readers your experience. I’m sure your comments will help them with their decision as to whether they should book with Amorita at this time. Anyway, as you said, the resort has a lot of promise and maybe, by summer 2008, they will be completely ready for guests.

Yeah call first to check if promo is availbale. I called at ones after the article appeared at the Philippine Star and was told all slots for the promo are taken. I actually paid P4,800 instead of their published promo rate of P3,500.

Hi! I’m looking into considering Amorita for an upcoming Bohol tour. Based on the comments above, I’m wondering if the facilities are still under construction or is the place fully operational already so that we can enjoy all the amenities that this resort has to offer. Thanks!
From Angel: Hi Lala. Thanks for dropping by and for your comment. I’ll try and get the info that you need. Once I have it, I will update this post and let you know. Regards.

In an earlier comment, Lala asks about whether Amorita is already fully operational. I inquired from Amorita and Ms. Marinel J. Macamay, Reservations Associate says that the resort is not yet fully operational at this time. The Mandala Spa, dive shop, and parts of the landscaping are still under construction. The infinity pool, the restaurant, and the rooms, however, can already be enjoyed by resort guests.
