The place Siquijor here in the Philippines has long been associated with mysticism and sorcery although am not too familiar how that reputation came about. You typically hear stories about witches and the like but if you are looking for a “not-so-commercial” place to visit, you may want to check Siquijor out.

Coral Cay Resort is located in Solangan, San Juan, Siquijor. Siquijor can be reached via ferry from Cebu or from Dumaguete. Coral Cay is a diving resort and while there, you can enjoy white beaches, a gym, a spa, and a pool. They offer various types of accommodations, some overlooking the sea or the beach. Depending on the type of room or cottage that you choose, you can fit 2 to 6 people. Pricing is very reasonable, with the rates from USD 14 to USD 50 per night (assuming double occupancy).

While in Siquijor, aside from enjoying the resort’s facilities, you may want to visit other sites. Siquijor is a small island — so you can go around in a day. You may go hiking to Mt. Bandilaan, visit the Village of San Antonio where the medicine men live, and go see the old Churches (San Isidro Labrador, St. Francis of Assissi, and San Juan).
